What is the turnaround time of an animation?

At Animation Agency we work with unique drawings tailored to your style and corporate identity. Therefore, it takes some time to develop an animation. The average lead time of an animation is 4 to 8 weeks.

What do we do during these weeks?

Over the next few weeks, we are putting everything into developing a fantastic animation for you. We start with a creative session in which we discuss your wishes and all possibilities. During this session we will make a planning and give you an indication of when the animation will be ready. Based on this creative session and planning we will start creating a storyboard, writing a script, and then illustrating and animating. In this blog, we highlight the important factors that affect the turnaround time of our animation process.

What does the lead time depend on?

The turnaround time of an animation depends on a number of factors:

The length of the animation

First, the length of an animation determines how long we take to create it. Generally, the longer the animation, the longer the lead time. The length of an animation is very important to ensure that your target audience can keep attention to the animation and that the message really comes across. In this blog, we explain how long your animation should be.

The style of animation

In addition to the length, the style of the animation also affects the turnaround time. A 3D animation can easily be used to dissect and show a complex machine, for example. Animating this is more complicated and takes more time than developing an animation with only flat drawings, as with a 2D animation.

In addition, the level of detail also affects the turnaround time. When the characters in the animation need more detail, our illustrators spend longer illustrating.

The collaboration

The third factor is the speed of collaboration. An animation is developed in steps, giving the client the opportunity to give feedback in between. (refer to Blog 1. How is an animation made?) The smoother the cooperation and the faster the customer passes on feedback, the faster our team can get back to work on the animation. Want to sleep on something? Fine! Immediately pass on your feedback? Also good! That makes the turnaround time just a little shorter.
